The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University (http://www.igp.uu.se) has a broad research profile with several strong research groups focused on Genomics, Cancer and Molecular Diagnostics. Research is presently conducted in the following areas: Medical and Clinical Genetics, Immunology, Pathology, Tumor Biology and Vascular Biology. Parts of the organization are also integrated with the departments for Clinical Genetics, Immunology and Pathology-Cythology at Akademiska sjukhuset, Uppsala. The department provides a well-developed infrastructure for advanced molecular sciences, including access to front-line technology as well as core facilities for cell analyses, DNA sequencing and genotyping. The Department has a yearly turnover of around 340 million SEK with a staff of around 340 people, 120 of which are PhD-students.

Work description:
Isolation of endothelial cells, cell sorting, culture of primary cells (endothelial cells), RNA seq, in vivo models of Cerebral Cavernous Malformations (CCM), Single Cell RNA sequencing, common methods in molecular biology, tissue preparations, tissue sectioning, and immunohistochemistry. Teaching (max 20%) and supervision of students.

Qualifications:
Doctor’s degree in a topic of relevance for the position and long time experience in vascular biology. Solid knowledge in vascular biology and cancer with specific expertise in TGFb/BMP signaling in endothelial cells and EndMT.
Previous experience in supervision and teaching. Genuine practical experience in scientific animal research and understanding of the ethical considerations. Production of primary cell cultures and molecular biology techniques of relevance for cell culture. Experience in immunohistochemistry and microscopy.
Knowledge in experimental in vivo models for CCM and solid experience in production of genetically modified mouse strains, solid experience in Single Cell RNA Sequencing.
Excellent skills in writing and communicating in English is required.
